CHECKING ON FRIENDS

Watering the plants

A morning routine

A nice way to wake up

Make sure everyone

Is ready for the day

Put some bird food

Out afterwards

Different kinds for

Different birds

Peanuts even

I don’t mow parts

Of the lawn

I like to see the movement

And grasses making seed

The full life cycle

Neighbors think I’m a bit odd

And I am

The pond is building itself

I’ll check the soil Ph

Later on that maple

And feed it

As this is all taking place

I think of the old neighbor

Next door

Haven’t seen him in awhile

He likes to garden

So his absence is

A bit strange

Noticeable

He doesn’t like to talk

All that much

I’ll send him an email

Today see what’s up

Even if all is OK

It’s some kind of

Reminder to both of us

And besides it’s a good

Way to wake up
