Flash another flash

Tree branches reach out

Into the night

Then snap back in afterglow

A fire rages then implodes

To shadow and dark

Shuddering sparks

Snakes and tendrils

Of burning light

Fuel imagination and fear

As all unexplained or new

Troubling sense eroding

What is it’s

Torment the daily and mundane

He is drawn of course

Curiosity outwits safety

Just be careful

Ready for anything

It can’t be the terrible lizard

Or furry beast with ripping teeth

He has to see close feel touch

It’s this the challenge

That I seek to feel alive

Worth all this need to just be

What it is doesn’t matter

The test of life itself

If I crawl and it’s nothing

I am less

Not natural it will notice

I must be part of it

Everything

That first step

Yes

This is it

If I could feel this

All the time

Stop the thought

Concentrate move slowly toward

The unknown
