THESE DAYS

Same as the others but not

They move faster

Into the day memory place

The present a fleeting rush

Away from the mirror of time

Cacophony of news

The acrid stink of war

Pestilence even at our doors

No wonder we pull the drapes

And retreat accomplices

In each days end

Force our eyes shut as children

To search within for solace

Reality truth well being love

It was still light just a few

Minutes ago before I

Even in the stillness of night

There is another day

Forming whirling toward

Pushing yesterday away

I’ll try harder today

It’s such a waste to

Let them pass so easily

While I remain and crinkle

Slowly toward the unknown

Somehow more acceptable

Then now or then

Today I’ll and that

Do create clean organize

Pack this day full of

Joy and accomplishment

Just a minute Mr. Day

I’m not finished with you

There is unfinished business

Some good to do

I need you

And you me
