WIND WALK

It’s the sound

So many notes

Shades of meaning

Whispers of wind

Ebb and flow

Through branches

And twigs

Soft hissing muffled

Deep groans in eddys

Contract expand

Earth breathing

Smell of pine

Sound too

Softer than wood

Sharper than grass

Flowing in waves

In the valley below

Bouncing clattering

Off rock and stone

Whipping the bush

So close to the ground

Hiding almost

A trickle of brook

Almost lost in

The symphony

Of wind

Deep exhale

Then pause

All bend back

They grow to meet this

Pines on the coast

And mountain top

Lean away

From the prevail

And claw the dirt

For foothold

Knots where branches

Have tried to be

But failed

Today’s walk will be good

Eventful

I have the wind

By my side
